    Responsibilities

    The Security Analyst I will be a member of the security team, performing a variety of security responsibilities. This position is focused on front line support and analysis. Responsibilities include investigating security events, writing reports, implementing technologies, assisting with various IT and security projects and ensuring policies or procedures are followed. Other task or responsibilities include:

     

    • Work with tier I IT staff to address security events and compliance issues
    • Assist in providing support to plan, coordinate, and implement the organization’s information security requirements
    • Evaluates system security requirements, secure software requirements, vulnerabilities and patch management, information flow, etc
    • Monitor logs for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and make recommendations for resolution
    • Provide security support for users and various business units to identify security gaps
    • Assists in the installation, testing, maintenance and modification of security tools
    • Assist in the execution of security compliance functions including, reporting, threat hunting, incident response, artifact extraction and policy/procedure enforcement or development
    • Resolves routine computer security problems and coordinates the resolution of more complex computer security issues with assistance as needed
    • Demonstrates knowledge about common computer security applications, can train employees or customers and assist them in resolving computer security problems as needed
    • Assist in investigations on desktops, servers, networks and applications using a combination of automated and manual tools following a defined process with assistance as needed
    • Communicate findings from investigations to the business units and assist with tracking resolution of identified findings
    • Working with computer security technical staff, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding technological advances that improve system security, reduce risk, and enhance operational surety

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
    • Awareness of IT Compliance and IT Security concepts
    • A good knowledge of system security
    • Basic knowledge of computer forensic and incident response methodology and techniques
    • Knowledge of common software applications including spreadsheets and word processing, strong verbal, written skills
    • Experience with implementing and managing Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM and other security tools
    • An understanding of operation systems hardening, vulnerability assessments, regulatory compliance: PCI-DSS, SOX, HIPAA and CIS Critical Security Controls
    • An understanding of Mac OS, UNIX or Linux, and Microsoft Windows operating systems
    • Experience with vulnerability scanning and attack tools
    • An understanding of endpoint protection controls
    • How to identify and handle information security incidents
    • Ability to read technical documents, maintain accurate records, prioritize work and analyze problems to develop effective solutions
    • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with customers and other technical staff
    • The desire to quickly learn and the drive to excel when presented with an opportunity
