• Serve as the database system subject matter expert, recommending and implementing best-practice database architecture, as relevant to our environment
• Design, deploy and maintain database infrastructure and related technologies (operating systems, third-party software)
• Lead complex troubleshooting and resolve critical or escalated technical issues
• Help design, deploy, test and troubleshoot new server and database components and designs
• Troubleshoot issues within internal and cloud environments
• Participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation to support our data center infrastructure

Minimum qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Experience working in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure) in enterprise level setting
• Deep database administration knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL database engines, SQL, tuning
• Experience administering Linux and Microsoft operating systems
• Ability to script and automate processes using at least one of: Python, Powershell, bash
• Must possess initiative to resolve issues before they become critical
• Must possess strong people skills and the ability to work as a team member, collaborating and partnering with others to address issues
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing, keeping the right people informed of relevant issues as well as understand and execute oral and written instructions
• Able to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment
• Must have a propensity for knowledge gathering and sharing
• Must be innovative, self-motivated and willing to work outside of primary focus area

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with git
• Experience with Jenkins and/or similar devops tools
• Experience building systems with infrastructure-as-code
• Experience with configuration management and orchestration systems such as Ansible, Puppet, SaltStack, etc.
